Chancellor's Cabinet
Chancellor Norris introduced the Chancellor's Cabinet members and spoke of their current and upcoming planning processes.
State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC)
State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) spoke about the potential state budget, what is affecting the rising costs in healthcare, supplementary healthcare options, and the devastating economic effect that tax cuts could bring. SEANC will be hosting town halls for staff to learn more.
Sustainability and Energy Management
Sustainability and Energy Management talked about their waste management initiatives on campus, with the town of Boone, Watauga County, and on a state/national level. They also talked about several of their other initiatives, including the Mountaineer Food Hub, which is a free food pantry open to faculty, staff, and students.
Human Resources
Human Resources updated us on Lantern Surgery Benefits and the holiday timesheet due date (December 11) and pay date (December 22).
Staff Senate Updates
- Co-Chair, Samantha Williams, reminded everyone of the different free food support options on campus and in the community for those that may need food help.
- Staff Scholarship Committee finished their survey and would like everyone to review the results to provide feedback at the January meeting.
- Fundraising Committee is looking for gift and themed basket donations to include in the Silent Auction for Staff Scholarships. All donations must be received by Wednesday, November 19. The auction will begin November 21st.
- Mark your calendars! AppKIDS Day on App State Campus is happening Friday, November 21st and the Staff Senate Holiday Party is taking place December 9th from 3:00-4:30 PM in Belk Library 421 (Boone), Hickory, and on Zoom. At the holiday party, we will be having a re-gift exchange. So find those gifts from last year that you haven't used... wrap them up and re-gift them to someone else!

Staff Senate meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in 421 Belk Library and Information Commons and are open to all university staff.
We will have our Winter Break Celebration on December 9 from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. The next Staff Senate meeting will be held on January 13, 2026 1:30-3:00 PM or via Zoom.
