Staff Senate Scholarships

Staff Senate awards scholarships to permanent staff members and dependents. Applications for 2018-2019 must be submitted online and additional materials postmarked by March 15, 2018. Awards are based primarily on academic performance and financial need. A scholarship recipient must have been accepted as a student at an institution of higher education for the 2018-2019 academic year. Scholarships may be used at Appalachian State University or other accredited degree-granting institutions, depending on the particular scholarship.

Scholarships for Permanent Appalachian Staff and Dependents

The recipient of the Endowed Scholarship must be a permanent Appalachian State University SHRA or EHRA Non-faculty employee, or their dependent and must have been accepted as a degree-seeking student at Appalachian State University with a minimum predicted or maintained grade point average of 2.5.  Scholarships are awarded based on funds available. Please review the Required Qualifications prior to applying.

All Components of the Scholarship Application Must Be Submitted by March 15, 2018.

  1. The Staff Senate Scholarship Application.

    1. Please upload your Resume and Personal Statement. Your Personal Statement should answer the question: what are your educational and career goals and how will receiving this scholarship assist you in attaining those goals? (Max: 500 words)

  2. An official transcript from your current school in PDF format uploaded to your application. You may also request your current school to mail your official transcript to Staff Senate Scholarship Committee, address below. (If you are an Appalachian State University student for the Spring of 2018, an unofficial transcript is acceptable and can be uploaded to the online form).

  3. Submitted FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) through the U.S. Department of Education, required for all applicants. Do not send a copy with your application. Only confirm that you have filed your FAFSA.

  4. The Release Form for Financial Aid Information. (This is required for all applicants who DID NOT indicate ASU as their College/University choice on their FAFSA report, due to NOT applying/attending Appalachian State University. The College/University you indicated on your FAFSA will complete this information from your submitted FAFSA report).

Incomplete or inaccurate information will result in the scholarship application being withdrawn from consideration.
