Staff Senate Scholarships

Staff Senate awards scholarships to permanent staff members and dependents. Applications for 2017-2018 must be postmarked by April 1, 2017. Awards are based primarily on academic performance and financial need. A scholarship recipient must have been accepted as a student at an institution of higher education for the 2017-2018 academic year. Scholarships may be used at Appalachian State University or other accredited degree-granting institutions, depending on the particular scholarship.

Scholarships for Permanent Appalachian Staff and Dependents

The recipient of the Endowed Scholarship must be a permanent Appalachian State University SHRA or EHRA Non-faculty employee, or their dependent and must have been accepted as a degree-seeking student at Appalachian State University with a minimum predicted or maintained grade point average of 2.5.  Scholarships are awarded based on funds available. Please review the Required Qualifications prior to applying.

All Components of the Scholarship Application Must Be Postmarked by April 1, 2017.

  1. The Staff Senate Scholarship Application.
  2. Official Transcript from your current school sealed in their envelope. You will request your current school to mail to you, do NOT open the envelope, mail with application to our Director of University Scholarships. (If you are an App State student for the spring of 2017, an unofficial transcript is acceptable).
  3. Submitted FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) through the U.S. Department of Education, required for all applicantsDo not send a copy with your application. Only confirm that you have filed your FAFSA.
  4. The Release Form for Financial Aid Information. (This is required for all applicants who DID NOT indicate Appalachian State University as their College/University choice on their FAFSA report, due to NOT applying/attending Appalachian. The College/University you indicated on your FAFSA will complete this information from your submitted FAFSA report).
  5. You have attached a separate sheet listing extra-curricular activities, work experience, and telling about your educational and career objectives

Incomplete or inaccurate information will result in the scholarship application being withdrawn from consideration.
