Staff Senate Scholarships

Scholarships for Permanent Appalachian Staff and Dependents

Permanent Appalachian State University SHRA or EHRA non-faculty employees, their dependents, and their spouses are eligible for Staff Senate Scholarships. Employees do not have to be degree seeking; however a spouse or dependent must have been accepted as a degree-seeking student at an institution of higher education with a minimum grade point average of 2.5.  Scholarships are awarded based on funds available. Please review the Required Qualifications (PDF) prior to applying.

All Components of the Scholarship Application Must Be Submitted by 05:00 PM on March 11, 2019.

The 2019-2020 Staff Senate Scholarship Application will only be available online. Please click here to complete the application and upload your necessary documents.  You will need the following information:

  1. Please upload your Personal Statement as a PDF file. Your personal statement should be one page, double spaced, discussing your academic and/or professional goals as well as how this scholarship will benefit you. Discuss any financial or other factors that may impact reaching your educational goals.

  2. An unofficial transcript from your current school in PDF format uploaded to your application. You may also request your current school to mail your transcript to Staff Senate Scholarship Committee, address below.

  3. Submitted FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) through the U.S. Department of Education, required for all applicants.

    1. Students attending Appalachian FULL TIME do not need to submit FAFSA information; it will be provided directly from Appalachian’s Financial Aid Office.

    2. Full-time Employees are not required to provide FAFSA information.

    3. Other Applicants have the following two options. In either case PLEASE MARK OUT your Social Security number.

      1. Go to the FAFSA Website, log into your account, go to your transactions and choose the most recent transaction (highest number), and print the last page of your 18/19 Student Aid Report (SAR) report (where it references Comments about your information- Expected Financial Contribution-EFC); a screenshot, PDF, or photograph is acceptable and can be attached to the application.

      2. Go to your financial aid office and ask for a copy of a document showing the Expected Financial Contribution (EFC).  Screenshot, PDF, or photograph is acceptable.

  4. Incomplete or inaccurate information will result in the scholarship application being withdrawn from consideration.

Online Submission deadline is 05:00 PM on Monday March 11, 2019
